Leaving Montreal wasn't hard... garden-wise.

Since I’ve returned to Singapore I have started a new job and resumed my old life. One thing that’s changed for me is that I have brought back my love for gardening. In a way, I’m really glad that I get the chance to start another garden in this hot and humid climate, simply because the sun shines brightly for 12 hours a day and that is exactly what the plants need. During the Montreal winters we tried to plant our own winter plants while keeping our indoor garden warm and happy, and we succeeded to an extent but it was tough.

We built an A-shaped garden shelf that allowed our plants to get the maximum amount of sunlight in the darkened season.

Our plants did as well as they could, but our vegetables didn’t fare so well. In the fall of 2012 we gathered a list of winter crops we would like to see grow during the season, which included rondo peas and red beet. Unfortunately, the temperamental Montreal weather killed our crop. =(
