Planted 3 crops of bak choi one week apart per crop. It will take at least 10-12 weeks for the bakchoi to be fully grown and I figured this was a good time. The seedlings germinated really well, but the worst isn’t over. They remain vulnerable until 3 weeks in, or when they have sprouted a 3rd leaf, whichever comes fastest. I felt heartened when one of my first crop of bakchoi survived and has now surpassed its third week and has sprouted a fourth leaf. I remember my summer crop in Montreal - it was tough to get them going but once they have, it was a smooth ride. Really makes you appreciate how tough it is to grow plants in conditions that aren’t ideal. It’s not easy to grow plants at all, and when we buy them from the supermarket we seldom think about where and how they came from.
