HDB Landing Garden

Container gardening while living in a Singapore HDB apartment is not easy. This is especially so when the friendly government builds a wonderful lift elevator right on your landing level, essentially blocking off all the sunlight outside your door. Although I love the convenience of having a ‘personal’ elevator right outside my door, it’s really tough to grow any vegetables or flowers without adequate light. Hence, after some trial and error I have whittled my 9th floor HDB landing garden down to house plants that can survive in low light. In the spirit of Chinese New Year, I have included two beautiful chrysanthemums into the landing garden despite the low light. These babies are about to bloom any way, and will certainly add to the 9th floor community cheer.

Obviously, my dog enjoys my landing garden as much as we do. ;)
